We spend our lives becoming.

Becoming who we're told to be. Who we think we should be. Who we need to be to belong, to be loved, to succeed, to survive.

But what happens when that person no longer fits?

UNBECOMING is a collection of seven original solo shows about the identities we build and the moments that begin to undo them.

Intimate, provocative and darkly funny, seven performers venture into the messy places between who we appear to be and who we might be underneath. Where desire collides with expectation. Where the things we chase reveal something we weren't looking for. Where the stories we've inherited meet the ones we tell ourselves.

Because perhaps finding yourself isn't about becoming someone else. Perhaps it's about discovering what was never you to begin with.

What falls away
was never you.

Chomel

Written & performed by Suzana Selamat

Chomel was always destined for a spooky life. When your grandmother loves horror films more than she respects healthy boundaries, you don't get bedtime stories. You get never-ending ghost stories and a name that belongs to the iconic Pontianak from Cathay-Keris's 1958 classic film. Amid it all, her mother's harrowing past comes to light, alongside her isolation in an unfamiliar and foreign "Zombie Land."
